"Pure energy. Pure heart. Bang Bang Experience brings you on a musical journey that you won't soon forget!"
"The music of Bang Bang Experience transcends beyond an audience's typical social convention, creating a space where strangers can freely enjoy each others' company. Watching the concert made me feel like I was part of something larger than myself. There are goosebumps on my arms and nearly tears in my eyes..."
"Sam Dechenne and Bang Bang Experience visited St. Lawrence University for a two-day residency last February and made a strong impact on our community. They introduced students to international brass band music in our Music of the World class and worked hands-on with our Modern Band students on improvisation, real-time arranging, and overall musicality. The level of student engagement and inspiration was clear throughout the experience. They concluded with an amazing concert playing their music and even invited students to perform alongside them, creating a memorable and meaningful moment. Combining a high-level of musicianship with a deep understanding of musical history—and a fun, positive energy—they are an excellent fit for educational settings. I highly recommend them for residencies, lectures, or performances." -David Henderson, St. Lawrence University
"The Bang Bang Experience was the greatest way to start our school day! Energetic, talented, warm—Sam and his bandmates created a magnificent and uplifting musical experience for our students that we were all talking about for days after. The diversity of musical styles they bring to their performance, and their broad talent across genres, meant that they could respond to each of our students' questions and interests. In addition to being exceptionally talented musicians, they're terrific people. We hope to have them back in the future!"

Bang Bang Experience is a 7-piece brass band from Portland, OR playing the music of trumpet player, Sam Dechenne. Inspired by the sounds of international brass bands and Jazz ensembles, Funk, Pop and Reggae horn sections, West African and Latin American drumming, they bring an exciting and interactive experience to every stage.
The rhythm section interweaves grooves and swaps roles throughout the performance for a visual and audible experience. Drum set, Cajon, Timbales, Congas, Surdo and a variety of mixed percussion make up the intricate drum beats you’ll hear at a concert. The lower brass section takes on the bass role, rhythmic comping, inner harmonies and supporting melodies. Riding the musical wave on top is trumpet, playing the main melody and voice of the band. With Bang Bang, you’ll hear melodic and fiery solos from every member of the band, soft and intimate 3-part horn section compositions, exciting rhythm breaks and catchy melodies and horn riffs that will keep your ears open and your feet moving. |
